Privacy Policy

The privacy of those who engage with AIM counselling is very important to me. Your personal information as a client will be stored safely and securely. Any data will only be used for the purpose it was given to me.

At our initial contact, any personal details I request,  which I retain on paper will be securely stored in a locked file.  If you decide not to proceed with counselling, I will ensure all your personal information is deleted within 28 days or sooner if you request.

If you decide to proceed with counselling, I will request further personal information, for example email address, GP details and medical history, these together with any anonymised client notes will be contained in a locked file, and if any record is contained on computer it will be password protected too.

You may request to see your personal information and notes from our sessions at any time.  Please request this in writing, allowing 48 hours’ notice.  If you feel there are errors in your data, you may also request they be amended.

Once counselling sessions have finished, I will store all your information for a further three years.  I will then securely destroy your personal data and notes from our sessions, in addition to any text messages, voicemails or emails you have sent me.  Please let me know If you would like this information destroyed sooner than that date, please let me know.

I adhere to current data protection legislation, including the General Data Protection Regulation (EU/2016/679) (GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003.  I am also registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office [registration number ZB222121].

The use of “Cookies”

This website, along with most other major websites, use ‘Cookies’. Cookies text that a website transfers to the cookie file on your computer or mobile device. The cookies we use cannot harm your computer, nor do they contain any personal information. Cookies cannot be used to identify who you are. Therefore you can visit my website without concern I know your identity.
